Keshi will Fail at Confederation Cup If…?

imagesBefore I get started, permit me to say a big congratulations to National team coach Stephen Keshi and the Nigerian Men football team the Super Eagles on wining today’s match against Kenya. It was a well deserved victory. But it is not yet Uhuru!

My last article on Stephen Keshi during the CAF Nations cup, was titled Keshi’s Many Tactical Flaws, In it I highlighted that my expectations for a coach of his pedigree was met with disappointment and as a strategist, I proffered solutions which I am delighted were taken into consideration in the matches that followed en-route winning the Caf Trophy.
Now what is the new thing we need to analyse?
What is still wrong with the Super eagle team?
What still needs to be done?
Where else do we need to plug to ensure a consistent flow of goals?

Before we begin any discussions we must get down to understanding the Analytic of Nigeria’s Men Team. What makes it Super, how has it been in the past? who is hot in the present team, who is not?

From the beginning of the Nations Cup I have consistently said it to anyone that cares to listen BROWN IDEYE is NOT the quintessential Nigerian striker. Do not misquote me Brown Ideye has great positioning, great pace, strong Penalty accuracy but poor finishing. Prove me wrong and state how many players missed more goals than Brown in the Nations Cup tournament. So who is the Quintessential Nigerian striker? He is a person in the mould of a “The Bull” Amokachi, or a Rasheedi Yekini. And in the present foray of stars Nigeria has, only two players fit that that Mould.
Emmanuel Emenike and Bright Dike. Both players Bullish attitude makes them always ready to Latch onto any oncoming cross and ruthless enough with the right body size and eye for goal. Always ready to give a 110% . No wonder Nigeria has floundered upfront since Emenike’s Injury.
If Emenike is Injured Get a Bright Dike, otherwise we will continually struggle to win matches.
The Midfield had me drooling already with Onazi If only he holds onto the ball for a lesser period of time .
I am not too concerned about the defence because a very sharp offence will make your opponent consistently fall back cautiously, it goes with the common saying then that Attack is the best form of Defence!
